December 2018 New Moon

December’s New Moon happens in adventurous, high-aiming Sagittarius – the energy that supports you in shooting straight for your heart’s desires.

Sagittarius is easily bored when what’s going on isn’t truly in line with desires of the heart, so boredom and irritation is a sure sign that something’s out of alignment and it’s time to take a look.

This New Moon window (the day before, day of, and day after) is strongly influenced by the end of Mercury Retrograde. Mercury went Direct yesterday afternoon.

Over the last three weeks, under the influence of Mercury Retrograde, you’ve been shown the things you need to clean up, clear out, and complete – so this New Moon provides gorgeous energy to begin implementing what’s been revealed.

You may feel a little bit murky or unsure as the energies shift – don’t stress, just breathe and take some quiet reflection time.

Remember, we’re in Freedom Five energy all month, and we’re headed for a First Quarter Moon that’ll emphasize that energy, so if your path to clearing up and creating more freedom isn’t totally clear right now, have patience – the pieces will shift into place over the next few days and you’ll see your path forward with more clarity.

December Universal Energy Flow

Happy December! Today, we’re entering the final month of this 11 Gateway Universal Year. What big shifts have come into your life this year? This month is the time to bring them fully into existence before the New Year.

Luckily, December is a 14/5 Universal Month, activating Freedom Five energy all month long. Five is the number of change; it’s the rebalance point in a cycle, the time to leave behind the old and solidify momentum toward the new.

We enter the month still in Mercury Retrograde, so all the stuff that needs to be completed, cleared up, and cleaned out continues to show up, adding clarity to just where you need to rebalance.

Mercury will move Direct on December 6th @ 4:21 p.m. EST.

For a couple of days before and after, both clarity and communication might seem a little disrupted but that will dissipate quickly as we begin the new lunar cycle.

December’s New Moon happens on the 7th @ 2:21 a.m. EST at 15 degrees of Sagittarius.

Direct, sharply focused, high ideals Sagittarius – ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion – underscores and supports this month’s Freedom Five energy, enabling you to get really clear about where you want to go and about what you need to do to get there.

Even if you feel unclear right now at the beginning of the month, breathe easy and rest assured that by the time the first ten days have passed, you’ll see things more clearly.

We’ll reach the First Quarter Moon on December 15th @ 6:49 a.m. EST.

It happens at 23 degrees of Pisces. Pisces energy is a little bit dicey – it’s freely changeable, which supports the overall Universal Energy Flow this month (and this aspect is additionally supported because FQ itself happens in five energy), but it can also introduce uncertainty and conflicting thoughts, so you’ll want to take steps early in the month to guard your hard-won clarity.

Pisces is ruled by Neptune – the planet of dreams and imagination as well as illusion and denial, a sword that cuts both ways. Neptune, a very slow-moving planet, just turned Direct on November 24th after more than five months Retrograde. During its Retrograde period, many of your own illusions came to the surface, and these, along with what’s being revealed to you during the current Mercury Retrograde, are the things you most need to bring into balance this month to set a strong foundation for 2019.

The Sun enters disciplined and determined Capricorn on December 21st @ 5:22 p.m. EST.

This adds fabulous steadying energy to the mix. Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, is the supreme over-comer of obstacles, climbing to great heights through sheer willpower.

At the same time, we’ll celebrate the Winter Solstice/Yule on December 21st – the darkest day of the year.

On a social level, we view this as the “beginning of winter” yet on an energetic level, this is the time we turn back toward the light.

Every year, we start the journey into the darkness on Mabon at the Fall Equinox (it’s origins are, of course, at the Summer Solstice, but we don’t truly begin to feel the effects of darkening until the Fall Equinox). From the Fall Equinox right on through to the Winter Solstice, as the darkness increases, we feel more and more “in the dark” and confused, then the wheel turns and, bit by bit, the light returns.

As we move through the last few days of the old year and into the first few weeks of a new year – heading toward the celebration of light at Imbolc at the beginning of February – the best gift you can give yourself is room to reflect and release. Carrying this year’s burdens into the new year won’t serve you well, and this is the time in the year-long flow to give yourself a break, rest and recuperate a bit, and prepare to manifest new dreams.

The day after the Solstice we’ll have the Full Moon on the 22nd @ 12:49 p.m. EST.

It’s happening at 0 degrees Cancer – beautiful, beautiful nurturing spiritual energy. Zero is the number of completeness, of Divine Protection, the union of the physical and spiritual/doing and being. It’s the vibration where everything exists, ready to manifest.

Cancer energy is all about nurturing your Inner Child and embracing your emotions. Capricorn is Cancer’s opposite (or polarity), and since we’ll enter Capricorn energy the day before the Full Moon, there’ll be a nice balance here: Capricorn steadiness will offset Cancer’s emotionalism – which is always heightened at the Full Moon anyway.

Make a commitment to some self-care nurturing in this stretch of time, especially if you’ve got lots of holiday prep and celebration going on. Listen to your body – and to your Inner Child. Use the last few days of this year to ask her what she needs.

The moon enters the Last Quarter on December 29th @ 4:35 a.m. at 7 degrees of Libra.

This couldn’t be more perfect! Spiritual Seven in the sign that’s all about balance to round out our 2018 Gateway Year.

The Last Quarter phase is the time to let go – to release what’s no longer serving you, and to simply trust and allow that what you’re manifesting is coming into physical form. True healing power lies in letting go of resistance and control.

Use this time to consider what you’re resisting and allow yourself to release it, so you can flow into the new year gracefully, ready to enthusiastically create the life you came to live, then do something to celebrate it as the year turns on December 31st.

Love & Blessings,

Katt

Do You Resist Healing?

I get it.

You want it to be quick, easy, and cost effective. You think you don’t have the time, energy, or money to invest in yourself.

But you’re smart: you know healing takes time – and effort and money.

Back in the mid-1990s, when I couldn’t handle my anxiety, depression, body pain, and chronic illnesses any longer, I spent a couple of years talking to different therapists, going to different doctors and specialists, and trying different medications, looking for the magic bullet – the answer to my healing.

None of it worked.

I was resisting healing.

I wanted the therapists to just fix me.

I wanted the doctors to just fix me.

I wanted the medications to just fix me.

I wanted the specialists to find a label to describe me (because I was certain my problem wasn’t something normal) and then to just fix me.

When I’d land in the hospital with severe chest pain and heart arrhythmia, debilitating migraines, and other physical pain and illness, I’d want someone to just fix me.

Most of the time, the conversation always turned to my anxiety and depression – even when there were real, measurable physical symptoms present.

Well, no-fucking-duh! I had a problem with anxiety…and I. WANTED. SOMEONE. TO. JUST. FIX. ME.

Guess what? The only person who could fix me was me.

It took me decades to figure that out, all the while suffering more anxiety, more depression, more panic attacks, more chronic pain, more chronic illnesses, and more disasters in my life.

And all the while, I was resisting healing.

Why? Because I wanted someone or something outside myself to provide a solution – a quick, easy, cost-effective solution.

Even when I turned to alternative medicine and holistic wellness in the late 1990s, I was still looking outside myself for the answer, albeit in a much healthier way.

I wanted the woman who first taught me to meditate to just fix me.

I wanted the woman who first taught me yoga to just fix me.

I wanted the man who first helped me see my divine nature – after years of resisting anything to do with spirituality because of my early religious programming – to just fix me.

When my whole life collapsed a few years ago, and I finally took responsibility for my own healing, things finally changed.

Why? Because I faced it head on and did the hard work – I invested time, energy, and money in my own well-being – and I added an invaluable component to my wealth of holistic healing knowledge: working to heal on a spiritual level, a soul level.

We’re designed to heal ourselves, both on the physical level and on the soul level. We’re meant to create healing magic for ourselves (and for others).

But it takes deep work…and time and effort…and that’s where we get tripped up. Our culture has done us a grave disservice by promoting the false idea that there is any magic bullet or quick fix.

Do you resist healing, too? Here’s how you’ll know:

If you spend a lot of time wanting things to be different, your body to heal, your emotions to calm, your mind to settle, your relationships to improve, your finances to be better, your lifestyle to change…

and a) you tell yourself that *something/someone* outside yourself holds the answer, b) you tell yourself there is a single, simple solution that’ll fix everything, and/or c) you always make excuses about why you can’t invest time, energy, and/or money in yourself…

you’re resisting healing, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Take it from the woman who threw herself under the bus for everything and everyone for decades, the resistance to doing something for yourself is proof positive you’ve got some negative beliefs around your worth, deservedness, and value that are sabotaging you over and over.

And I can guarantee that it’s showing up in your health and in your life in a negative way.

True healing – deep, abiding healing – comes from within.
You already know how to heal – it’s an innate power that’s divinely sourced, and I promise that you have access to it: you just need to get reconnected to your own healing magic!

Love & Blessings,

Katt

8 Surefire Tricks Guaranteed to Improve Your Energy

You are energy. Everything and everyone around you is energy. The Universe is energy. And all that energy is communicating all the time. You are communicating all the time.

The question is, are you choosing what you’re sending out, or is your subconscious programming running the show?

There’s a simple way to tell: are you attracting the experiences you want to attract and living a healthy, vibrant life?

If you want to begin to consciously choose, it’s vital that you change your energy. When you raise your vibration, you naturally begin to heal and to attract the things you want.

In this article, you’ll learn eight surefire tricks guaranteed to improve your energy.

What you put in, on, and around your body matters

When the things you come in contact with have a high vibration you’re adding strength to your energy.

Choose pure foods, clean water, and quality supplements or medicinals. Carefully select natural body-care products, cosmetics, and fragrances.

Pay attention to your environment, too. Use green cleaning products, monitor air quality, and use energy-clearing techniques in your home.

Choose to limit your exposure to negative or toxic people that drain your energy.

Get in tune with celestial and earthly cycles and rhythms

Nature and the Universe move through cycles. You’re designed to be cyclic, too – inhaling and exhaling, eating and eliminating, waking and sleeping.

Allow yourself to flow with natural cycles instead of resisting them (or pushing your way through them).

Cycles of sleeping and waking, and reflection and action, are especially important. When you’re busy doing, you’re in Beta-wave brain rhythm. It’s important to get into the alternate brainwave states of Alpha, Theta, and Delta as often as you can.

Alpha is the creative brainwave state; Theta is the meditative brainwave state; and Delta is the deep sleep brainwave state where major repair work takes place.

Create heart-brain coherence

Your heart emits a powerful electromagnetic field, one that’s 5000 times greater than the electromagnetic field of your brain.

That field is highly responsive to your emotions. When your emotional state is always in chaos, your brain is receiving distress messages and the emotional processing areas of your brain send out the distress signal to your body.

Regularly practice focusing on elevated emotions such as Love, Compassion, and Forgiveness, and your brain will receive an all-is-well message and communicate it to your body.

Practice mindfulness meditation

Set aside time to fully focus on your inner self. Mindfulness meditation allows you to shift into Theta brainwave state and become The Observer, checking in with what’s going on in your body, with your breathing, and with your emotions, thoughts, and beliefs. Healing occurs easily in Theta state.

Once you’re in Theta state, you can choose to hold your focus on anything you’d like. It can be an object, a mental image, or an experience. You can also move your focus around your body, scanning different areas. The key thing is, as outside thoughts arise, notice them then simply let them pass.

Use affirmations and visualizations

Intentionality – choosing the positive things you want to create in your life by focusing on them while in Theta state – is easy to do using affirmations and visualizations.

Make present tense “I” statements that reflect qualities you aspire to – for example, “I am calm and confident.” Spend time reciting your affirmations while focusing on feeling joy about them in your heart center.

Use your affirmations when you notice yourself feeling fear, doubt, or uncertainty. Just recite them until you return to a state of calm.

Visualizations are images you hold in your mind about what you’re creating. All you have to do is create an image in your mind of what you want to achieve. Then, hold it in your mind’s eye while feeling those same feelings of joy in your heart center.

Have a daily gratitude practice

Gratitude is one of the highest vibration emotions we can feel, and it’s simple to do: just focus your attention on your heart center, and prayerfully recite everything you’re grateful for right now. Challenge yourself to list at least five things every day – ten if you’re really daring. You can write them in a journal if you wish.

You can do this any time of day, but right before bed is a powerful time to practice gratitude. The emotional state you’re in when you fall asleep continues all night, and it alters the state you’ll be in when you wake up.

Open up to your spiritual gifts, and to Divine Guidance

Your spiritual gifts show up in several ways: clairsentience, clairaudience, clairvoyance, and claircognizance.

Clairsentience is feeling energy in your body – your “gut feeling” about something, although the feeling can show up anywhere in your body.

Clairaudience is hearing auditory guidance – coming from your subconscious mind and from the Divine Beings who guide you.

Clairvoyance is seeing images – sometimes they’re mental images and sometimes they’re angels, spirits, or other spiritual beings.

Claircognizance is “knowingness” – effortlessly perceiving the answer without purposefully thinking about it.

When you regularly connect to your sensory system you become attuned to the difference between positive and negative energy and can easily make informed choices.

Rewrite your emotional beliefs

Right now, you’re reacting to everything that happens with an outdated, subconscious operating system that causes a never-ending negative feedback loop from your brain to your body and back again. It’s wreaking havoc on your health and on your life.

This programming was encoded in your early life in response to your experiences – emotional development and energy development go hand-in-hand in childhood – and the programming was reinforced in later decades when you continued to attract the same kind of experiences again and again.

Rooting out and rewriting your old emotional beliefs will change your underlying programming so you can choose a new, conscious response to current events. It allows you to create a positive feedback loop instead.

Remaining in a positive state is the ultimate key to raising your vibration, and it all begins changing with your emotional belief system and your habits.

Choose one or two of these tricks and get started on improving your energy today – you’ll quickly begin to create healing magic and to attract your heart’s desires!

Love & Blessings,

Katt

What Really Creates Marked Transformation

Five years ago, on April 11, 2013, my Mama transitioned out of this human life, and her death catalyzed a major transformation for me.

My relationship with my mother wasn’t always easy (are any Mother-Daughter relationships ever easy?), and the last few years of her life were especially difficult. With her declining health and her increasing dementia, and my role as her Medical Power of Attorney entrusted with making life-altering decisions for Mama, we completely switched roles.

All of this happened in my late forties, during a time when decades of negative patterns were coming to an explosive head. The tipping point didn’t come for another five months but it was set in motion in the weeks just before, and just after, her death.

On the morning after her funeral, I encountered my first eagle.

I was walking on my favorite trail along the river with my dog, Maverick, thinking about my grief, my anger, and the devastation of my life. We were about halfway back when I happened to look up, and there on a tree branch right next to the trail sat a huge eagle, looking out over the river. As Mav and I approached, it swiveled it’s head to look down at us briefly, then resumed it’s study of the river. Cautiously, I crept closer, until we were barely ten feet from the tree. Every so often, the eagle would swivel it’s head and look down at us again, then turn back to the river. We stood there for close to half an hour when finally, the eagle looked down at us once more, then rose into the air on a great flap of wings and soared out over the water and away.

At the time, I didn’t give the experience any special spiritual significance, yet I did make a strong emotional connection between it and my mother. Over the next few months, though, eagles showed up everywhere, especially when I was the most distraught, or when I had a major decision to make (and there were lots of them around that time).

One particularly memorable day, I was driving down a local road, crying as I listened to Carrie Underwood singing See You Again on the radio. I had left the house to escape yet another distressing conversation with my then-husband, and right that moment, I just wanted my Mama. And there they were: a pair of eagles soared over the trees and followed the roadway in front of my car for probably half a mile before they veered off and away again.

Another time, more than two years later, I had just made a difficult decision about a new relationship and I was out walking. And there they were again, soaring over the trees and following along the roadway for a while before heading off.

There are dozens of stories like these, and they continue to this day. There are other ways eagles have shown up, too: finding an eagle key chain in a purse given to me by someone else (they didn’t know it was there); having eagles prominently feature in a Reiki session and an Akashic Records reading; and often drawing the Eagle animal spirit card at decision-making times.

The eagle symbolizes Divine connection, and it symbolizes freedom, healing, and strength. For quite a while, I didn’t really get it; I just knew that when an eagle showed up, I felt comforted and reassured.

As I mentioned, the tipping point didn’t come for another five months. In between, my predominant emotion was anger. Intense, raging, furious anger. They say that anger is a common part of the grieving process, but the level I experienced went above and beyond classic grief: it was utter fury.

Some of it was directed at other people (not literally, but in my own thoughts): my father, my exes, and others. After all, when we’re able to blame others for what they did to us, we don’t have to accept responsibility for what we created.

In truth, though, most of it was directed at myself. And that was a key emotional shift for me.

I’d spent many decades seeing myself as a victim ~ as powerless and worthless.

While it’s true that some other people did some pretty awful things to me through the years, I allowed it because I didn’t believe I had any other choice. Even when I’d find the resolve to change something, I’d recreate the same pattern over and over again because I didn’t value myself, and I believed I deserved what I got.

When the tipping point came ~ after I found out my dog had terminal kidney cancer ~ I spiraled down into self-pity. I went from furiously angry to deep emptiness in a matter of days.

Up to that time, of necessity, I had been dealing with the aftermath of my mother’s death, the end of my marriage, moving, and lots of other things, so I hadn’t yet truly grieved all my losses…and I’d been too steeped in anger to get quiet enough to do it.

That emptiness felt a lot like depression, and perhaps that was a component of it. Yet, it was much more than that. It felt as if all the anger had been a months-long tantrum, discharging decades of negative energy.

Even though I had symptoms that are attributed to depression ~ I was exhausted, lethargic, had no joy in anything, didn’t do much beyond going through the motions of my day ~ I was also strangely calm.

Part of me didn’t want to do the work it would take to pull myself back up one more time; I’d done it a lot over the course of my life already. Another part of me was intrigued by the idea of what might fill that emptiness.

And, I was even more intrigued by the idea that maybe I could proactively empty out even more old stuff, that perhaps I had power over the situation.

I hadn’t yet made the leap from there to the idea that I could actively create what I wanted, but it was a short jump from one to the other soon after.

I began to purposefully look back at everything and intentionally choose to release it, simply deciding I was done with that particular pattern. I purged things in droves, both energetically and physically. The more I cleared, the more I wanted to clear.

The more I wanted to clear, the more I started to see the possibilities for what could be.

The more I could see the possibilities, the more I started to believe I had a choice.

The more I believed I had a choice, the more I began to actively set intentions.

The more I actively set intentions, the more the synchronicities happened.

By the first anniversary of my mother’s transition ~ and, ironically, the day my divorce became final ~ I was already living in a new location, planning a new business venture, and (unknown to me at the time) on the threshold of a completely different kind of relationship later in the year.

In those months, I made conscientious choices about what I wanted to carry forward into my new life and what I needed to release, literally and figuratively. Then, I intentionally cultivated what I wanted to create, physically and spiritually, and looked for the ways to harmonize the two into something new.

It’s easy when we’re suffering to want to throw everything away, yet we always have something of value to carry forward with us and carefully merge with the new to create a divine alchemy.

And that’s what it really takes to create marked transformation.

Those eagles showed up again and again to help me remember that we’re all Divine energy incarnated in human form, and that we have power over what we create. It all begins with emotional energy and beliefs.

I believe the Divine seeks to bring every one of us to our own tipping point ~ the point where we remember our divinity. I believe the circumstances that catalyze transformation can be small and large; when we miss the lesson in the small situations, they get bigger, until something finally gets our attention.

My mother’s death catalyzed things for me ~ in part because I realized what a restricted life she lived, and I want more for me, for my daughters, for my granddaughters, and for all women. At first it made me angry, for her and for myself, and then I understood that I have the opportunity to make things different, first for me, then for others.

If you’ve read this far, something has already catalyzed your own awakening to the possibility that things can be different; what’s your story?

Love & Blessings,

Katt
